A whole, whole, whole lot of people in the U.S. have HPV (human papilloma virus)…this story scared the boo boo out of me. It’s not just a sexually transmitted disease. You can get it from skin to skin contact. OMG!!
A 35-year-old Indonesian man named Dede suffered a simple cut as a teenager and thereafter began growing tree-like warts all over his body. The warts soon worsened into mossy, branching growths, virtually incapacitating him. His wife left him, he was out of a job, and he was made the village freak. Doctors could never figure out what Dede’s condition was, and the growths worsened with each passing year. It wasn’t until an American dermatologist traveled to see Dede’s odd growths and cutaneous horns that the proper diagnosis was made: Dede was simply suffering from HPV, or human papilloma virus. HPV causes warts (frequently of the genital variety) and is quite common in humans. Unfortunately for Dede, he happens to have a rare genetic flaw that causes his immune system to be as weak as someone with AIDS. The chances of this genetic fault? Less than one in a million. Fortunately for Dede, proper treatment and several surgeries offer the promise of a normal life. The doctor is also trying to get more American support for this special patient. Good luck, Dede! Wow. I’d be very interested in hearing his philosophy of life, what he thinks. Having a condition like this must be very humbling.

He is not fine. He refused treatment at the last minute. He travels in a freak show to make money for his family. I think he’s was threatened and/or his family because if he was cured he’d leave the show. He is the show’s biggest attraction.

I think that all of you all who feels that this man needs to die, are sick individuals. Each one of you have a meeting date with the maker. So be careful of the stones that you throw. My heart goesout to him. I think that we need to think God that we were are blessed when it comes to different situation. Remember he had a cut as a child. Some of you have diseases and would never admit it or have as much courage as this gentleman to come forth. I think that he just wasn’t in the right place to get treated. I belive that If he prays the Lord can remove this virus and create in him a new man. My heart goes out to him. I pray that the Lord shines down on him.

I saw a show on the Discovery Health Channel a few days ago. Dede had all of the growths surgically removed. He can finally write again and walk without pain, but they discovered that he has osteoporosis disintegrating his finger bones, and the growths were also trying to return.

This is crazy! I seen the review/report of it and never thought I would get hpv myself, I take care of myself, got it But my was nothing, this guy has all over his body.
January 24, 2009 at 1:29 pm
so. it is hard for me to believe that this man simply got this virus from… cutting his arm or whatever. is it not a std. or something of that nature. i know in indonesia they might not understand certain things that others can, but that disease is horrible and everyone who thinks it cant happen to them think twice. and you can get HPV vaccine and it is worth it. this man looks like he has a lot of sorrow and guilt.
January 25, 2009 at 10:38 am
i feel so bad for Dede, i pray the warts do not come back. i just saw him on discovery channel. i am totally compassionate for this poor man, imagine that this could happen just from a cut…the Lord Jesus be with you Dede.

i have HPV and im sorry but even if you dont get it treated it will never look this bad. they showed a while back that the only things in these pictures and on his body were the warts. not the feathers and not the seaweed looking shit ans not the tree roots. while HPV is an STD it can also occur with just touching a wart on someone else IF it happens to be bleeding. now the growth on his hands is cancer and if you are a male with it you can develope penile cancer and a female can develop cervical cancer. but in almost all cases the person with HPV becomes sterile. so in order for this POOR man that everyone is giving sympathy to, i dont feel sorry for him at all just like i would never expect someone to feel sorry for me for having HPV. I fell in love with someone who carried the HPV string and had one of his friends tell me that he had it and didnt listen so its my oen fault. And as far as praying to your non-existant DOG and JEBUS, i tried that and i still cant have children. They have treatments for it yes so the warts go away but you cant get rid of a virus. the treatments include removing them with surgery and acid. THATS IT!!!!
March 24, 2009 at 9:42 pm
anybody knows how is dede doing as time progress.
we all pray for him if he is still alive.
March 26, 2009 at 9:30 pm
Educate yourself ppl. HPV is NOT just Sexually Transmitted. Have you ever had a plantar wart? hand wart? then you have HPV. There are many different HPV strains. some are genital, some cause cervical cancer, some are superficial. it CAN be transmitted from skin-to-skin contact.
Find the information first before you spread half-truths. The internet is a wonderful resource but it is still wise to check your sources. “Billy Joe’s Website of self diagnosis” is not reliable…look for medical sites.
March 26, 2009 at 9:37 pm
p.s. wtfe:
please go to a doctor and ask questions about it. Some strains DO recede below infection-detecting levels a.k.a “normal”. It all depends on what strain you have. if you have a high-risk, cancer causing strain, AND you don’t have regular Pap tests, then serious damage can occur if it isn’t treated in time. Please don’t spread half-truths and scaremongering. Not everyone becomes sterile. I’m sorry it has happened to you, but frightening young adults is not helping. it’s spreading ignorance and that ultimately prevents Accurate information from reaching those that need it most.

woah. sucked in man..
April 18, 2009 at 10:03 am
I also recently found out that i have the HPV virus. For a long time i thought it was hemroids and lived with it until i went to the doctor and was told different.I was shocked and told the doctor i have had theese warts for almost ten years since being with my ex wife and she never had any signs of it but that doesnt mean i did not contract it from her or,it is possible i had it before i met her but never had signs…either way is very painfull to have in that area and i had surgery a week ago to have it removed with laser treatment..Needless to say it now is so painfull to have a bowel movement but hoping it heals soon. They say there is no cure for the virus but i am doing continued research and finding out that it is possible to treat it with certain herbs to rid yourself of it for good…a
Also, not having sex will not eliminate transmitting the disease you can get it from skin to skin contact…God bless

Hi,
I’m studying infections right now in medical school. I came across this site while doing some research. For clarification, I have found in my research that HPV does not cause infertility on its own. Infertility may be indirectly caused by the cancerous conditions that some strains may predispose a person to. Women with HPV can have children. Usually the doctor will suggest a C-section if it is known that a woman is pregnant and has HPV to prevent transmission to the child during delivery.
Also, I believe Dede has a genetic mutation that affects his body’s ability to control the spread of the wart growth. People without this mutation should never get this bad.
Anyone wanting more information, please go to your doctor or visit a medical site to get accurate information. I suggest going to webmd.com to start.

Ya you really cant get rid of serious infections of genetic HPV. Most of the time it doesnt go away and usualy comes back after a while. I for one havent experienced it but if you have than you should take the herbs to treat it for a while after surgery
May 26, 2009 at 10:17 pm
omg that’s scary…are there any new pics of him?
June 12, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Wow, I feel so sorry for you honey! “One in a Million” That poor number one. I Hope everything is getting better for you
June 28, 2009 at 6:44 pm
I think you people are pathetic how can someone say that he needs to die? it is just curl to say that about someone else because it could so very easily happen to anyone so pray to god that you dont have to live with that disease everyday. for all those people that had something mean to say keep it to yourself because karma is a bitch what comes around goes around.
