Beautifully said...but sadly the black community continues to deem these men "black messiahs." Once we move away from black men needing to the ones to uplift us out of bondage, ...then characters like Al Sharpton and Jesse will begin to loose their dominance. Tommy Shelby offers an interesting albeit descrepencies to a more demorcratic form of black solidarity in "we who are dark." Good read.

Very well written. Although I have no problem speaking for myself, I'd rather have Farrakhan to speak for me vs Sharpton & Jackson. Farrakhan at the very least is a 'self-owned' man. At least he doesn't have governmental counterparts in his pockets. Sharpton & Jackson are too self-involved and their agendas are often too confusing.

That's funny because when something goes wrong, most blacks will scream ''where is Al, where is Jessie?'' When they appear, their characters are assassinated by the same babywipes that begged for their help. *SMH* When Sean Bell was murdered, who was there critizing, protesting?? Guess. That's what I thought. YOU weren't there.

I have to say that I certainly agree with this article! It is a crying shame to look at Sharpton or Jackson as the face and voice of an entire nation of people. It's time someone went on television in order to make it clear that neither of these men have the title "President of the Negroes". The closet racists in this country all seem to think that once they get diahrrea of the mouth that all they have to do is contact Sharpton or Jackson. And they will magically be forgiven by 36 million people. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
